FAMPA
The application for the 2024 FAMPA is now open through August 31, 2024.
The AMPA fellowship program and the corresponding FAMPA designation were introduced in 2019 to recognize AMPA members who have made noteworthy contributions to the association and the specialty of air and critical care transport medicine.
Fellowship requirements are divided into three categories: experience, knowledge, and leadership.
Experience requirements: The prospective fellow must both:
- be an Active or Founding AMPA member for the three years prior to application, and
- demonstrate proof of active participation in air or critical care transport medicine for a minimum of three years.
and
- submit a letter of support on program letterhead from your operations manager or director
Knowledge requirements: The prospective fellow must demonstrate knowledge regarding air and critical care transport medicine through completion of one of the following:
- the AMPA Core Curriculum, or
- the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Diploma in Retrieval and Transfer Medicine, or
- the University of Otago Diploma in Aeromedical Retrieval and Transport, or
- the Bond University Diploma in Retrieval Medicine, or
- the James Cook University Certificate in Aeromedical Retrieval, or
- an equivalent demonstration of knowledge approved by the AMPA Board of Trustees.
Leadership requirements: The prospective fellow must demonstrate leadership in air and critical care transport medicine through two of the following:
- publication of research specific to air and critical care transport medicine, or
- presenting on two or more occasions at AMTC, CCTMC, the Core Curriculum, or AMPS, or
- service on the AMPA Board of Trustees or as an active member of an AMPA committee for a minimum of two years, or
- service as an active Air Medical Journal reviewer for a minimum of two years, or
- an equivalent demonstration of leadership approved by the AMPA Board of Trustees.
The fee for application is $100. Fellowship applications will be reviewed by the membership committee or its designee, and applications meeting all requirements will be presented to the AMPA Board of Trustees for approval of the applicant's election into fellowship.
Continuous membership must be maintained in order to maintain fellowship status and to use the FAMPA designation. Re-election following a gap in membership of greater than three months will require the following:
- re-application and payment of the application fee,
- two more years of continuous AMPA membership, and
- one new leadership activity.
