This preconference is designed to provide the first
session of a 3-part core curriculum process that is
relevant to the success of physicians managing
critical care air and ground transport teams. Topics
are selected from Principles & Direction of Air
Medical Transport.
Educational Objectives: At the completion of this conference participants
will be able to:
Explain the transport utilization issues including
indications for transport.
Describe the safety issues and additional
precautions necessary for air medical transport for
a disaster response.
Learn the management issues facing the medical
director, including the role they play in the success
of the transport team.
Define flight physiology and its impact on
transport crew members and patients.
Understand the importance and value of CAMTS
certification standards as they apply to the medical
director.
Acquire knowledge of the impact of infectious
disease processes that affect transport team
members and how to maintain safe practice
guidelines.
Explain the history of air medical transport and
how military applications transferred to civilian use.
Understand the medical directors role in crew resource management
